Doh!
Need a friend? ... Here's one for life!
The ULTIMATE in Workbench applications! Homer's head sits in a small
window on your Workbench screen and watches your mouse pointer, occasionally he
may say a few words or even sing!
Homer has a variety of moods, usually he is happy and cheerful, but he has
a tendency to go to extremes, and can get very angry and agitated (he can sometimes
say some things that you may prefer to not have heard), and at other times he
can get depressed. And on those time when he really gets bored, he can turn out
his lights, turn his answer machine on and go to sleep.
The idea for Homer came orignally
from a similar program on the
Macintosh, ... so I can't take
all the credit for this program.

Homer 1.5 Archive Split Download
If you have had trouble downloading Homer15.lha because its sooooo big (900K+) you
might want to try downloading a split up archive. It is available in two
parts:
homer-1.lha (550K)
homer-2.lha (440K)
Simply extract both these archives in the same directory and you have all the
contents of the Homer15.lha archive. Dont forget to download the Homer16u.lha
update (its only 15K or thereabouts).
Troubleshooting
Experiencing problems? Impossible, nothing could possibly go wrong!
Well just in case you are having some trouble, you may want to check below and
see if your problem is mentioned here!
- There was no configuration file provided in the Homer archive.
Oops! My fault. In the initial distribution of Homer (Version 1.4) I unfortunately
omitted the Homer.conf configuration file. This problem has now been
fixed, and the configuration file is included is the Homer15.lha archive.
If you do not want to download a full archive you can download
Homer.conf by itself.
- Sometimes Homer will animate as if talking but there is no sound.
Ah, yes! I know this problem - there seems to be a bug between the different
versions of the sound.datatype, in the implementation of signalling the
owner task when the sample has finished. Two different versions of sound.datatype
are documented differently in regard to this feature. So my work-around has been
to drop sound.datatype support (I wish I didn't have to) and have audio
handling code included in Homer itself. Download the latest version of Homer for
this bug fix!
Please report any other problems, preferably with a soloution and I can add them
here so others can make use of the information.
